Accordi Musicali Academy Cello Competition Continues with Inspiring Second Day

Forming part of the Accordi Musicali Academy’s celebrated summer programme, the competition continued to build momentum as aspiring cellists from around the world delivered captivating performances, each hoping to secure a place in the highly anticipated Final Round.

Now in its second edition, the Accordi Musicali Cello Competition has quickly gained recognition as a premier platform for young artists to demonstrate their artistry before an esteemed panel of international jurors. The diversity and depth of the competitors’ programmes again stood out on Day 2, with selections spanning a wide range of styles, composers, and periods in a testament to both the rich competition repertoire and the interpretative talents of the participants. Works by Popper, Bach, Schumann, and more were featured throughout the day, with each piece challenging the performers to balance technical command with expressive depth.

Judging the competition, meanwhile, is a prestigious jury composed of internationally renowned musicians including Alexander Chaushian (UK/Armenia), Alan Chircop (Malta), Massimo Magri (Italy), Alfredo Persichilli (Italy), and Gustav Rivinius (Germany). Together, they are providing invaluable feedback to participants while also evaluating each individual’s readiness to advance to the Final Round and the prize-winning positions.

Indeed, beyond its €9000 prize pool, including a €5000 First Prize, €3000 Second Prize, and €1000 Third Prize, this competition is also offering young artists significant exposure and a rare opportunity to perform in one of Italy’s most historic theatres. Ultimately, finalists will not only receive recognition for their musical excellence, but also benefit from the experience of this unique event, while simultaneously building new connections within the global classical music world.

As the jury now deliberates over their selection, excitement is rising ahead of the Final Round, scheduled for July 8th, which will determine the competition’s standout performers and mark a major milestone in their individual musical journeys.
