Held from the 28th to the 30th of July, the masterclasses brought together a group of promising young violinists and a faculty of internationally acclaimed artists and educators for an intensive learning experience that embodied the spirit of artistic excellence and mentorship.
Organised as part of the broader Accordi Musicali Academy, a summer initiative dedicated to nurturing the next generation of classical performers, the violin series saw students from across Europe and beyond taking part in daily lessons, workshops, and one-on-one sessions over a three-day duration. These sessions were led by a host of renowned professors including Roman Kim (Germany), Svetlana Makarova (Switzerland), Zohrab Tadevosyan (Spain/Armenia), Karen Shahgaldyan (Armenia), and Pavel Vernikov (Switzerland), each of whom brought their own stylistic insight and technical mastery to the Academy.
The violin programme, like all segments of the Accordi Musicali Academy, was rooted in its core mission of connecting aspiring musicians with world-class mentors in an intimate and inspiring setting. Students were offered the rare chance to refine their craft while receiving tailored guidance from leading figures in the field, all within the historic and musically rich environment of Pescara.
Professor Roman Kim shared his thoughts on the final day of lessons, noting that “the Accordi Academy is a very nice place. Italy actually is my favourite country; it's been a wonderful time here, and it's great for people to have the possibility to get masterclasses with such great professors. So it is a great Academy, I think, and I'm happy to be here. The students are different – some are very good technical people and already have a lot of energy, and some are having classes, so I try just to help. I see the weak points and, of course, strong points of the students, and I try to tell them: this is your strong point, work on that in the future because it's your strong side. And for weak places, of course, some technical stuff, I tell them to play scales every day, for instance, to improve their technique."
As the masterclasses wrapped up, the Academy celebrated not only the artistic strides made by its students but also the lasting connections forged between teachers and pupils. With the violin programme concluded, attention now turns to the Accordi Musicali Violin Competition, which begins on August 1st, giving these young maestros the chance to showcase their skills and newfound knowledge in a contest with their peers, with a prize fund of €9000 waiting for the most accomplished amongst them.
