Organised as part of the broader Accordi Musicali Academy series, the competition draws young musicians from around the world, offering them a platform to compete for a total prize fund of €9,000, including a €5,000 First Prize, €3,000 Second Prize, and €1,000 Third Prize.
Day One of the First Round saw a series of remarkable performances by the selected participants, each presenting a varied and technically demanding programme. With an emphasis on both virtuosity and musical character, the contestants demonstrated impressive artistry across a wide range of repertoire, laying a solid foundation for what promises to be a thrilling competition.
The distinguished jury, comprised of internationally respected musicians and pedagogues, including Hayrapet Arakelyan (Germany/China), Guerino Bellarosa (Italy), Nicola Campitelli (Italy), Alan Chircop (Malta), and Antonio Tinelli (Italy/Switzerland), praised the quality of playing on display, with Campitelli, in sentiments that were shared by his colleagues, noting that “I think the most important thing in any contest is to bring a lot of music into the performance. While technical preparation is vital, what truly sets a competitor apart is personality and musicality.”
Among the standout performers on the first day was Giuseppe Olivieri of Italy, who reflected on his return to the competition, stating that “this is not my first experience at Accordi Musicali because I took part last year, but it’s my first time making it to the final round. It’s a really good competition with great organisation. The Teatro Marrucino is a wonderful place, a truly beautiful theatre, and it’s a real pleasure to perform here.”
With the First Round continuing tomorrow, the excitement is mounting as the jury prepares to select the top six finalists who will progress to the Grand Final in Chieti.
