Hosted within the historic halls of the Luisa D'Annunzio Conservatory, the competition drew promising young violinists from around the globe, each competing for a share of the prestigious €9000 prize fund, with €5000, €3000, and €1000 awarded to the First, Second, and Third Prize winners, respectively.
Day one featured the first wave of First Round performances, offering a rich display of virtuosity, stylistic diversity, and technical precision. Under the discerning ears of an esteemed international jury panel, featuring Alan Chircop (Malta), Francesco De Angelis (Italy), Zohrab Tadevosyan (Spain/Armenia), Karen Shahgaldyan (Armenia), and Pavel Vernikov (Switzerland), participants delivered captivating interpretations of masterworks from across the violin repertoire.
Reflecting on his experience so far, contestant Anton Bakanov praised the warm and welcoming atmosphere, noting that “my experience so far was very positive. I like the organisation here, and I like the venues as well. People are always there to help you if you have any question or trouble.”
As the First Round continues into tomorrow, anticipation is building around which violinists will earn a coveted spot in the Final Round, scheduled for August 3rd at the historic Teatro Marrucino in Chieti.
